The Millard Military school was operated by Colonel Millard and his wife Esther for many years. In addition to the Millard School display, Esther Millard recently donated a beautiful cannon that had been a centerpiece at the school. It’s an antique and is presently located in our gift shop. We need help!
The Bandon Historical Society Museum, is compiling a list of all Veterans who were born in Bandon or attended schools in Bandon, Langlois, Bear Creek, Prosper, Riverton, Two Mile, or the Four Mile area. These names will be displayed in the museum in our military exhibit area and is just another way for us to honor our Military Veterans. We have been working on this project for some time; we now have over three hundred names but very little information. The information we would like as well as the names are listed below. Our goal is to make this list of information as complete as possible. That is why we are asking for your help. Information that would be helpful: Name, rank, branch of service, years of service, and location served. If person served in peace time, war or conflict and what war or conflict, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, Gulf War, or Iraq. If a loved one was killed in action or the date of natural causes of the veteran. Where person was born or local area school attended. Our goal is to have this list completed by Veterans Day in November for a special Open House when we will Honor All Veterans. With your help this information will be completed, please stop by the museum, pick up a form and return it with the information we are requesting. Or click here to print out the form. It will be easier for us to enter this information with this form than taking it over the phone, but if you have any questions please call 347-2164. |
